Fear Not: An April Message

“Don’t be afraid.”  I think that I must say this phrase about twenty times a day with the various women in my care. Usually, it’s when we are discussing possible reasons for a woman’s symptoms, tests that may be needed, or when I must notify her of a scary diagnosis. I can see her mind racing and the panic in her eyes as she is hit with the enormity of her situation.

The world is a scary place just now. Seemingly out of nowhere, the viral pandemic is causing untold loss of life, economic devastation, and upheaval of families and of society.

I have decided not to be afraid. I have decided to take the step that’s right in front of me even if I can’t see the entire way forward. I have decided to be at peace with not knowing how to resolve every awful contingency possible. I have decided to maintain my disciplined mind and keep my life orderly.

I have decided to reframe this time of separation from family and activity into a time of quietness and reflection. I have chosen to find joy in what I have instead of whining about what I don’t have.

Here at Serenity Women’s Care, we are here for you too, and we aren’t going anywhere. We don’t have the luxury of taking time off because we have responsibilities to you. We are going way beyond our typical cleaning and sanitation routine (which is pretty epic already) to provide the absolute safest environment for you. I have the option of Telemedicine visits for many of our appointment types which don’t require a gynecological examination. If you need anything at all, we are here for you. Remember, too, that there’s never a question that you can’t ask us.

We are all in this together, and together, we will get through. We live in the greatest country on earth. The sun still rises every morning.

Don’t be afraid.

Love and peace to you,
JeanAnn
