Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Photofacial is a laser light treatment that targets pigment issues, such as brown spots, sun damage and red spots, and Rosacea. The light from IPL is more scattered and less focused than a laser, and releases different wavelengths of light. The light passes through the epidermis, drawing out the pigment producing cells. The pigmented cells absorb the light energy, which is converted into heat. The heat destroys the unwanted pigment or spots. Since the light penetrates down to the second layer of your skin (dermis) without harming the top layer (epidermis), it is less likely to damage your skin.
IPL Photofacial can be used on the face, neck, chest, shoulders, back arms, legs and just about anywhere else on the body. With every laser there is always a risk with treatment, so it is extremely important to have this done by a qualified professional. Lasers should only be purchased by medical providers to ensure safety and efficiency. It is important to do your research when you are considering a laser treatment, and if the deal seems to good to be true, it probably is.
